Greeneville Bottling is a GMP-regulated food and beverage manufacturer looking for an experienced, hands-on Controls / Maintenance Technician. You’ll troubleshoot PLC-controlled automated equipment, pick up the tools to make the mechanical and electrical repairs yourself, and help grow the PLC skills of the technicians around you.
If you’re equally comfortable working through ladder logic on a laptop and turning wrenches on the production floor — and you enjoy teaching others how to do the same — we’d like to hear from you.
What You’ll Do
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair automated bottling and production equipment.
- Use PLC logic and diagnostic software to identify equipment faults, I/O issues, sequencing problems, and interlocks.
- Read and troubleshoot PLC ladder logic, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Troubleshoot and repair motors, VFDs, HMIs, servos, sensors, photo eyes, proximity switches, relays, contactors, and motor controls.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automated systems.
- Repair and replace motors, pumps, bearings, belts, chains, gearboxes, conveyors, valves, and other production equipment.
- Train and coach maintenance technicians on PLC troubleshooting, ladder logic, and electrical diagnostics, both on the floor and one-on-one.
- Perform preventive maintenance and identify potential equipment failures before they cause downtime.
- Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and work with production to safely restore operations.
- Assist with equipment installations, modifications, changeovers, and continuous improvement projects, following change control procedures.
- Identify recurring failures and help develop long-term corrective solutions.
- Complete accurate work orders and maintenance records in our CMMS to support GMP documentation requirements.
- Follow all plant safety, GMP, and food safety requirements, including sanitary design, allergen, and foreign-material controls.
- Perform general facility and maintenance work as needed.
What We’re Looking For
- Industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing, bottling, packaging, food/beverage, or similar production environment.
- Strong PLC troubleshooting skills and the ability to read and understand ladder logic.
- Experience with Siemens and Allen-Bradley PLCs and related software (TIA Portal, Studio 5000 / RSLogix) preferred.
- Strong industrial electrical troubleshooting skills, including VFDs, motors, sensors, relays, and motor controls.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair abilities.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and safely use multimeters and other diagnostic equipment.
- Working knowledge of lockout/tagout (LOTO) and NFPA 70E electrical safety practices.
- Experience in a GMP, FDA, or food-safety-regulated facility preferred.
- Experience with automated filling, bottling, labeling, packaging, conveying, or material-handling equipment is a plus.
- Experience troubleshooting HMIs, servos, and pneumatic systems preferred.
- Technical degree, industrial maintenance certification, electrical training, or equivalent hands-on experience preferred.
How You’ll Work With the Team
You’ll help set the tone for how our maintenance team learns and works together. We’re looking for someone who:
- Explains PLC concepts clearly and patiently to technicians at every skill level.
- Shares knowledge freely and enjoys watching others grow.
- Treats coworkers with respect and works collaboratively with maintenance and production.
- Stays calm and professional during breakdowns and high-pressure situations.
This Is a Hands-On Position
We’re looking for someone who can do more than diagnose a problem from a computer. Our technicians are expected to identify the problem and perform the physical work necessary to fix it.
Candidates must be able to stand and walk for extended periods; bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and work around production equipment; use ladders; and regularly lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
Benefits
- Overtime: Regular overtime at time-and-a-half (40+ hours per week)
- Medical and dental insurance
- 401(k) plan
- Two weeks paid vacation
