LANDFILL LABORER

LANDFILL LABORER - STARTING PAY: $18.57 - $20.49 PER HOUR DOE

BRIEF DESCRIPTION: The road department is charged with the maintenance of county road utilizing a variety of equipment. Hand operated tools are also utilized in the performance of this job. Employee must comply with the safety guidelines of the County and complete and pass a new-hire physical and drug screen. This position is subject to random drug and alcohol testing. The Road Manager Carlsbad, Road Manager Artesia, and the Sandpoint Manager are all equal in authority and may direct your work at any time. Employee must perform all duties with minimal supervision. Employee may be required to work irregular hours, attend job-related meetings, training, and perform all other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education: High School Diploma or GED required 

Experience: Experience with hand tools, machinery, and outside activity preferred. 

Background: Must successfully pass criminal and employment background investigations. Eligibility to work in the U.S. verified thru E-Verify. 

Pre-Employment Testing: All job offers are contingent upon successfully passing a pre-employment physical and drug screen. 

License: Must have, or ability to obtain, a current valid NM drivers license and be insurable by the County Insurance Authority. MUST PROVIDE A CURRENT DRIVING RECORD. 

Communication: Effective oral and written communication skills in English required. 

Attendance: Employee may be required to work irregular hours and perform all other duties as assigned. 

Performance: Ability to perform the essential duties listed above in the working conditions with the tools, equipment and materials listed below.

Other: Safety Sensitive and DOT positions are subject to random drug screen.
