Job Description

Franklin Township in York County, Pennsylvania, is seeking dependable, hardworking individuals to join our Public Works / Road Crew team as Seasonal Road Workers. This position is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, performing hands-on maintenance, and helping maintain safe, clean, and well-kept township roads, parks, and public spaces.

Seasonal Road Workers will assist with a variety of public works projects, including general road maintenance, park upkeep, snow plowing, and other seasonal maintenance activities. Employees will work under the direction of the Township Roadmaster and may have opportunities to operate heavy equipment based on their qualifications and experience.

Key Responsibilities

Perform general road maintenance and seasonal public works duties.
Assist with snow plowing and winter weather operations as needed.
Maintain township parks, grounds, and public areas.
Operate lawn mowers, landscaping equipment, and other maintenance tools.
Perform manual labor, basic repairs, and general maintenance tasks.
Operate trucks, heavy equipment, and machinery when qualified and authorized.
Follow established safety procedures and township guidelines.
Complete additional duties as assigned by the Township Roadmaster.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Valid Pennsylvania driver's license required.
Ability to perform physical labor and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Dependable, punctual, and able to follow instructions.
Willingness to work additional hours when needed, including during snow and ice events.
Previous experience in road maintenance, landscaping, public works, or equipment operation is beneficial.
Experience operating heavy equipment is a plus. Applicants should clearly list relevant equipment experience and qualifications on their application.

Work Schedule

Regular Hours: MondayFriday, 7:00 AM3:30 PM
Additional Hours: As needed for weather-related operations and township maintenance needs.
