Job Description

The Construction Buyer will manage the full purchasing lifecycle for construction metals, mixed materials and services, equipment, and supplies. Reporting to the President, this role will coordinate daily and weekly with project and shop teams to support timely procurement, supplier performance, and successful project delivery, with opportunities to take on expanded project procurement responsibilities.

 

Responsibilities

  • Receive and analyze requisitions, including quantities, specifications, and delivery requirements.
  • Request pricing and quotes, negotiate prices and contracts, and place orders.
  • Manage purchasing contracts, supplier stock, blanket orders, and related workflows.
  • Generate purchase orders and coordinate with suppliers to support on-time delivery.
  • Track deliveries and monitor inventory for construction materials, equipment, supplies, and services.
  • Review architectural drawings to support purchasing requirements.
  • Coordinate daily and weekly with project and field teams.
  • Support the President and upper management, and perform other duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in construction procurement.
  • Outstanding organizational, time management, follow-up, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, including Word and Excel.
  • Experience interpreting architectural drawings.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and maintain strong attention to detail.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Contract negotiation experience.
  • Experience with ComputerEase.
  • Supplier relationship management experience.
  • Safety background or construction industry experience.
  • Construction metals industry experience.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.


Compensation starting at $60,000/Year
