The Columbia Police Department is looking for organized, customer-focused professionals to join our Support Services team as Police Records Clerks.
This position plays an essential role in helping officers, investigators, and the public by managing critical records, supporting emergency communications, maintaining confidential information, and providing outstanding customer service.

Serve as the first point of contact for visitors to the Police Department
Provide professional customer service in person, by telephone, and in writing
Receive and process non-emergency requests for police services
Enter information into the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system
Maintain accurate police records and confidential information
Process police reports, citations, warrants, and other official documents
Assist police officers and investigators by researching records and providing information through the Records Management System (RMS)
Conduct warrant, criminal history, and driver's license inquiries
Prepare reports and maintain detailed documentation
Support daily administrative operations within the Police Department
Help ensure the accuracy, integrity, and security of public safety records
High school diploma or equivalent
One to three years of experience in administrative support, records management, customer service, office administration, or a related field
Valid driver's license
Missouri Uniform Law Enforcement System (MULES) certification within six months of hire
Has exceptional attention to detail
Enjoys helping customers and solving problems
Maintains professionalism in confidential situations
Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing
Works well independently and as part of a team
Is comfortable using multiple computer systems and software applications
Can manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy
Values integrity, professionalism, and public service
The Columbia Police Department provides public safety services 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Employees work a full-time 40-hour schedule and may be assigned to days, evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, or holidays based on operational needs. Specific schedules will be discussed during the interview process.
Police Records Clerks are the backbone of the Police Department's administrative operations.
Every report processed, every record maintained, and every citizen assisted helps officers stay focused on protecting the community while ensuring accurate and efficient public safety services.
