IT Cybersecurity Specialist

Job Description

This full-time position reports to the Business Systems Manager and is located at the Operations Center.

WHAT YOU WOULD DO:

  • Responsible for duties associated with the analysis, evaluation, implementation, security, and administration of solutions supporting the Utility’s technology infrastructure.
  • Support the security of technology and information systems, including on-premises, cloud, web-based, IIoT and OT.
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining security controls to enhance cyber resiliency.
  • Perform operational security tasks such as patch management, access control administration, endpoint security management, privilege escalation, vendor access and log review.
  • Participate in incident response activities, evaluating emerging threats and implementing approved mitigation strategies.
  • Support compliance with applicable security regulations, standards and privacy requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining and testing disaster recovery and business continuity plans for supported systems.
  • Maintain assigned documentation and procedures for supported technology areas.
  • Provide advanced support for assigned infrastructure and security systems. Serve as an escalation point for complex issues from Deskside Services.
  • Other duties may be assigned dependent upon utility needs and individual qualifications.

QUALIFICATIONS:

An Associate’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience in cybersecurity, system administration, infrastructure support, or related IT roles is required. A Bachelor’s degree in a technology or cybersecurity-related field and two to four years of experience administering production infrastructure systems is preferred. Candidates should have experience supporting enterprise environments, including Windows Server, Active Directory, cloud and/or SaaS services, virtualization platforms, endpoint protection technologies, and networking infrastructure, along with working knowledge of cybersecurity principles, identity and access management, cloud security, and risk mitigation. The successful candidate will support cybersecurity objectives while contributing to the administration and support of enterprise infrastructure systems, demonstrate strong communication and problem-solving skills, and obtain an industry-recognized cybersecurity certification within twelve (12) months.

Employees will also receive eight hours of vacation leave and sick leave every month and twelve paid holidays throughout the calendar year.

SALARY:
Employees are compensated within the established salary range. As skills, experience, and sustained performance grow, pay may progress within the range over time, with midpoint serving as a general reference point for employees who demonstrate full proficiency in the role.
