Reason position exists: To coordinate health, safety, and training programs that foster a safe work environment and development of a skilled workforce. Provide audit services for safety and training programs for compliance and effectiveness.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

1.

  • Ensure safety practices are compliant with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations.
  • Research, develop & implement programs that ensure safe work practices across the board.
  • Coordinate, schedule, conduct and track annual AWAIR / Right to Know training and other related or required regulatory training.
  • Actively participates in data collection and recordkeeping/reporting for environmental services in plant.
  • Ensure proper labeling of materials and posting of PPE requirements.
  • Coordinate new hire safety orientation.
  • Conduct safety audits and regulatory agency communications as needed.
  • Lead and Coordinate workers’ compensation first report of injury / accident investigation processes.
  • Responsible accurate and timely record keeping for all OSHA, EPA, and similar regulatory entities.
  • Chair employee driven safety committee.
  • Tracks and inputs into data system various statistics collected by others such as water usage, hazardous waste manifests etc.
  • Act as advocate for safety across the organization

2.

  • Create and execute internal safety audit schedule. Record results and submit items for corrective or preventive action to the General Manager.
  • Recommend changes and improvements to quality and safety systems to improve effectiveness.
  • Work with management team to implement changes as appropriate.

  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Follow all ISO, NADCAP and other regulatory requirements.

  • Participate in cross-training opportunities.
  • Improve my knowledge and contributions.
  • Offer suggestions for improvement.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Required:

  • Technical degree (BS) in environmental studies or related is required.
  • Ability to communicate and interface professionally and effectively diverse levels of management, external parties, and employees.
  • 3+ years manufacturing experience, resulting in a strong understanding of operations, quality, and safety requirements.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to create plans and schedules and execute to those schedules.
  • Good understanding of and experience with OSHA, EPA, Nadcap and other relevant regulatory requirements
  • Intermediate computer and software skills: MS Word and Excel, 10-key
  • Ability to travel up to 10% - This position will also be overseeing the EHS at our other locations in Indiana, Florida and Mexico. Passport is required for this position.

  • Prior success in a Safety and/or training role requiring strong attention to detail and project management.
