EDUCATIONAL INTERPRETER
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Certification: Possession of an appropriate New Jersey Department of Education Standard
Certificate, or eligibility for an Emergency
Certificate as defined by the NJDOE Certification Portal.
Specialized Endorsement: New Jersey
Educational Services Certificate with a sign
language interpreting endorsement.
EIPA Standards: EIPA Certification with a
minimum score of 3.0 or higher.
Educational Training: Completion of
specialized Educational Interpreter Training courses:
Education: Associate Degree or higher from an accredited college or university (candidates with performance route certification will also be considered).
Specialized Knowledge: Proficiency specific to the language development of Deaf and
hard-ofhearing children.
