SUNY Broome Community College is seeking candidates for a full-time, 10-month, tenure-track appointment as Assistant Professor/Instructor in the Radiologic Technology Program. This position also includes Clinical Coordinator responsibilities. Ten (10) month salary is spread over twelve (12) months to allow for consistent, uninterrupted pay periods. The department offers an A. A. S. in Radiologic Technology. The Radiologic Technology program is fully accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) and is a NYS licensure preparing, and an ARRT credentialing program.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Clinical coordination, didactic and laboratory instruction, student advisement, participation in accreditation and assessment activities, and committee assignments for the department and the College. Teaches courses, laboratory and clinicals in various modalities, as assigned.
Performs related duties supportive of the educational program including:
• Aligning and coordinating clinical education with didactic instruction while assessing its effectiveness.
• Engaging in didactic, clinical, and laboratory instruction.
• Supporting the program director and other faculty to ensure smooth and effective program operations.
• Contributing to accreditation and assessment processes.
• Staying updated on professional disciplines and educational methodologies through ongoing professional development.
• Keeping abreast of program policies, procedures, and student progress.
• Assisting in the acquisition and maintenance of clinical affiliations.
• Serving as Clinical Coordinator; serving as liaison with clinical sites; working with preceptors to manage student learning and evaluation.
• Overseeing, instructing, and evaluating students and faculty within the clinical setting.
• Engaging in outreach and enrollment events and activities.
The ideal candidate must have the ability to teach all areas of Radiologic Technology and hold an American Registry of Radiologic Technology certification and New York State License. Additional specialty registry in another imaging area preferred.
Preference given to applicants with demonstrated interest and ability in the use of alternative and innovative instructional methods, familiarity with the use of technology in the classroom and experience using learning management systems. Candidates comfortable in a student-centered, diverse classroom with a strong commitment to the community college mission are encouraged to apply. Candidates should be able to provide documented two years' clinical experience in the radiologic technology discipline.
Requirements:
• The Assistant Professor position requires a Master's degree in an appropriate field with either three (3) years of teaching experience or an appropriate combination of teaching, relevant work experience, and scholarly activity.
Additional coursework in an appropriate field is desirable.
• The Instructor position requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in health, education, or a related field, with work experience in an area appropriate to the teaching field strongly preferred; approved Master's Degree required within four years for continuing appointment. Work experience in an area appropriate to the teaching field strongly preferred.
• Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification and NYS Licensure.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship.
Additional Information:
The annual minimum salary for Assistant Professor is $56,606. Salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.
The annual minimum salary for Instructor is $51,914. Salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.
