Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in heavy civil construction to lead and oversee multiple projects from pre-construction through closeout. This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage operations, build client relationships, control costs, and ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management & Execution

• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, overseeing daily logistics and operations
• Review plans and specifications to ensure work is executed accurately with field supervisors
• Develop and maintain project schedules to meet deadlines
• Coordinate labor, equipment, and materials to maximize efficiency and utilization
• Step in as needed to support field operations, including supervising crews

Pre-Construction & Estimating

• Attend pre-bid meetings and collaborate with the estimating team
• Assist in building and reviewing bids to ensure contract requirements are met
• Support submittal processes and ensure timely procurement of materials

Resource & Cost Management

• Track job costs and forecast cost-to-complete accurately
• Identify resource needs and procure additional equipment within budget
• Optimize use of company-owned equipment and workforce
• Review project profitability regularly with supervisors

Client Relations & Business Development

• Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients
• Support new business development and sales efforts
• Represent the company in a professional and solutions-oriented manner

Contracts, Compliance & Risk Management

• Interpret and manage contracts, scope of work, and project expectations
• Proactively identify risks and implement mitigation strategies
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations
• Oversee permitting and licensing requirements
• Enforce safety protocols and quality standards

Change Management & Problem Solving

• Manage and negotiate change orders to maintain project profitability
• Address challenges proactively and provide effective solutions
• Adapt to shifting schedules, labor shortages, and material delays

Documentation & Administration

• Manage submittals, pay applications, and project closeout documentation
• Maintain accurate project records, reports, and logs
• Oversee project accounting and administrative processes
• Hire and manage subcontractors and vendors

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in civil construction
• 4–5 years of experience as a Superintendent, Project Manager, or PMP-certified professional
• Strong understanding of heavy civil construction methods and processes
• Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Experience in estimating, scheduling, and cost control
• Demonstrated ability to build client relationships and support business development
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Proficiency in construction management software and technology
