Taxpayer Compliance Specialist

About the Role

The Franklin County Area Tax Bureau is seeking a detail-oriented, highly organized individual for a full-time Taxpayer Compliance Specialist position. In this role, you will play a key part in local tax administration and municipal tax filing processingworking with our internal database systems and online tax filing portal to review income tax returns for accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and process local income tax returns and related filings efficiently and accurately.
• Navigate and utilize financial and administrative database systems, including AS-400 and online tax portal system.
• Provide professional, courteous customer service to taxpayers and municipal entities via phone, email, and in-person inquiries.
• Handle multitasking in a fast-paced environment while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
• Collaborate with team members to support broader tax compliance and administration workflows.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent certificate required at a minimum; an associate or bachelors degree is preferred.

• Strong numerical aptitude and proficiency with numbers.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills (Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus).
• Strong computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and database navigation.
• Prior experience in taxation, accounting support, or administrative office environments is preferred.
