Substitutes

Charlotte Valley Central School is accepting applications for:

• Substitute Teachers
• Substitute Aides
• Substitute Kitchen Staff
• Substitute Bus Drivers (valid bus driving license required)
• Substitute Nurse (RN or LPN)

A School Substitute is responsible for providing temporary classroom coverage when regular teachers or school staff members are absent. The substitute follows lesson plans, maintains a positive learning environment, and ensures students remain engaged in educational activities. Responsibilities include delivering instructional materials, supervising students, taking attendance, managing classroom behavior, and assisting students with assignments as needed. The substitute must follow school policies, maintain student safety, and communicate effectively with students, staff, and administrators. Additional duties may include supervising students during lunch, recess, transitions, and other school activities. Successful candidates should demonstrate flexibility, patience, strong communication skills, and the ability to adapt to different classroom settings and grade levels. A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required, while additional education, experience, or certification may be preferred or required depending on district guidelines. School substitutes play an important role in maintaining instructional continuity and supporting student success.
