Job Description

Location:  West Palm Beach, Florida • On-Site

Department:  Campus Security

Reports To:  Security Supervisor

Status:  Full-Time • Non-Exempt, Hourly

Schedule:  School-Based Schedule with Additional Campus Events

Compensation:  Commensurate with experience, plus benefits

Your Purpose

As a School Resource Officer, you will serve in a key role supporting the safety and security of the ACA community.

You will provide a calm, professional, and highly visible security presence throughout the school day and during assigned ACA activities. You will proactively identify potential safety concerns, respond appropriately to incidents and emergencies, support campus safety procedures, and build positive relationships with students, employees, families, and visitors.

This position requires someone who understands that protecting a school community involves more than responding to emergencies. It requires discernment, consistency, professionalism, strong judgment, relationship-building, and a genuine heart to serve others.

Who You Are

●      Committed to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and continued spiritual growth.

●      Aligned with ACA’s mission, values, and Statement of Faith.

●      A person of integrity who seeks to model Christ-like character in both professional and personal conduct.

●      Calm, observant, approachable, and confident in high-pressure situations.

●      Able to build trust with children, teenagers, parents, employees, and school leadership.

●      A strong communicator who understands when to listen, when to act, and when to escalate a concern.

●      Teachable, dependable, flexible, and willing to work collaboratively as part of a team.

●      Able to exercise authority appropriately while maintaining a servant-hearted approach.

●      Committed to maintaining appropriate confidentiality and professional boundaries.

What You Will Do

Campus Safety & Security

●      Maintain a visible and approachable security presence during student and employee arrival, dismissal, and throughout the school day.

●      Conduct regular patrols of ACA’s campus, buildings, parking areas, entrances, and other designated areas.

●      Monitor campus access and assist with visitor screening and access-control procedures.

●      Proactively identify potential safety or security concerns and take appropriate action.

●      Respond calmly and effectively to security incidents, disturbances, medical emergencies, safety concerns, and other campus situations.

●      Carry and maintain authorized service firearm and security equipment safely and in accordance with ACA policy and applicable law.

●      Support campus emergency preparedness, including drills, lockdown procedures, evacuations, and emergency response protocols.

●      Coordinate appropriately with local law enforcement, fire rescue, and other first responders when necessary.

●      Assist with securing, opening, or closing campus facilities when assigned.

School & Event Coverage

While the primary schedule aligns with ACA’s regular school-day operations, campus security responsibilities extend beyond the traditional academic day. The SRO will:

●      Provide assigned security coverage for Professional Development (PMD) days, summer programs and activities, athletic events, concerts, performances, special events, and other ACA-sponsored activities.

●      Maintain reasonable schedule flexibility for occasional evening, weekend, school-break, or emergency security needs.

●      Coordinate with the Security Supervisor and ACA leadership regarding security coverage for upcoming school activities and events.

●      Help ensure appropriate security coverage is maintained when students, employees, families, or guests are participating in ACA-sponsored activities.

This position is not limited solely to the academic-year student calendar.

Communication & Documentation

●      Document incidents accurately, objectively, and promptly.

●      Communicate relevant safety and security information to the Security Supervisor and appropriate ACA leadership.

●      Maintain confidentiality regarding student, employee, family, and security-related information.

●      Work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, staff, volunteers, and other members of the ACA community.

●      Follow ACA procedures regarding reporting, escalation, documentation, and communication.

Professional Boundaries

Because the SRO serves in a position of authority within the school community, maintaining appropriate professional boundaries is an essential responsibility of this position. The SRO is expected to:

●      Maintain clear boundaries between professional responsibilities and personal or family matters on campus.

●      Address personal matters involving their own child or family through the same appropriate school processes expected of other ACA parents.

●      Ensure that the authority, uniform, equipment, or responsibilities associated with the SRO position are not used, or reasonably perceived as being used, in connection with personal matters.

●      Exercise authority with sound judgment, professionalism, consistency, and respect.

●      Model appropriate conduct and interactions with students, families, employees, and visitors at all times.
