The Quality Control (QC) Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Lenexa, KS, responsible for overseeing welding quality control across our ASME boiler and pressure vessel projects. This role develops, implements, and maintains welding QC procedures, ensuring compliance with ASME/NBIC codes, customer specifications, and internal standards. The QC Manager reviews and approves welding procedures and qualifications, supervises inspection activities, and coordinates NDE and documentation for weld overlays and related repairs. Daily tasks include auditing job sites and shop operations, resolving quality issues, analyzing weld data and reports, and providing guidance and training to welding and inspection personnel. The role also collaborates with project management, engineering, and safety teams to support continuous improvement, reduce rework, and maintain consistent quality performance across all customer projects.

Qualifications:
Welding quality control and inspection skills, including experience with ASME/NBIC codes, weld procedure qualification, and review of welding documentation per ASME Section IX associated with repair of Boilers (ASME Section I) and Pressure Vessels (ASME Section XIII).
Hands-on familiarity with industrial welding processes such as automated weld overlay, repair welding, and related shop and field applications.
Competence in NDE methods (e.g., VT, PT, UT thickness) and PMI verification, as well as interpreting inspection results and reports.
Strong organizational and leadership skills to manage QC programs, coordinate multiple projects, and train or mentor welding and inspection personnel.
Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with project management, engineering, operations, and customer representatives.
Experience in refining, petrochemical, chemical processing, pulp and paper, or power utility environments is highly beneficial.
Working knowledge of safety regulations and quality management systems, with a focus on minimizing downtime and preventing rework.
Relevant certifications (such as CWI or equivalent) and a technical degree or diploma in welding, engineering, or a related field
To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the Incumbent is preferred to have at least five (5) years of hands-on work experience in the welding industry and management of related ASME/NBIC fabrication/welding industry job responsibilities. Incumbent must have knowledge of common tools and equipment used in the welding & NDE industries, ability to read and understand drawings & specifications, and be experienced in Microsoft Office and other software programs. The Incumbent must be flexible and willing to work when called upon. Strong verbal and written communications skills are required. The ability to follow instructions, given either orally or in writing, is required. All personnel must carry out assigned duties and responsibilities in an ethical manner and must follow Company policies.
All personnel will need to abide by all employment screening requirements (i.e. background screening, drug & alcohol testing, etc.) required by Hi-Tech for employment, in addition to any additional requirements that may apply for specific projects.
Physical Demands:
The Incumbent will work in and around heavy construction/maintenance work sites, with continual strenuous work activity performed under varying weather and environmental conditions. The job requires standing, walking, climbing ladders, and/or climbing scaffolding for extended periods of time along with bending, stooping, pushing, carrying, or maneuvering involved pertaining to equipment weighing more than 50 pounds. Additionally, this role will require personnel to have the ability to work in small, tight and noisy work areas within work areas of elevated temperatures and humidity.
Equipment:
The Incumbent may perform duties in various work environments, which will involve sites such as the corporate warehouse, shop environments, and/or field work sites located at various industrial job sites. Equipment utilized involves items such as a company vehicle, laptop computer, cell phone, radio equipment, potential heavy equipment, various support tooling, and the general working knowledge and use of various tools and processes of the industry.

Anticipated Travel:
This role is planned to have limited travel involved, however, travel and field work opportunities will arise in which this Incumbent will have the choice to be engaged in field projects, with field projects involving extensive OT/DT compensation for extra earning potential. As various field projects arise, the Incumbent (and other members of the project team) may be dispatched to industrial work sites for the performance of projects. Projects may involve USA sites, Canadian sites, or potentially other countries. A current US Passport and valid driver's license is required for this position.
