Senior Library Technician

Job Description

The County of Yuba is currently accepting applications for a Senior Library Technician in the Library. Under general supervision, the incumbent will support the successful operation of the library by providing library services to the public; provides lead direction and technical assistance to assigned support staff/volunteers and/or project management; serves as the primary contact and County resource expert on assigned functional areas and/or programs and performs related work as assigned.

  • Demonstrates experience or interest in planning, coordinating, and implementing library programs and projects.
  • Works effectively as part of a collaborative team and contributes to a positive, supportive work environment.
  • Provides effective lead direction, technical assistance, and support to staff and volunteers.
  • Is organized, dependable, and able to manage assigned programs, projects, and functional responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
  • Shows a willingness to learn, adapt to new responsibilities, and develop knowledge of library services and resources.
  • Ideally possesses a Library Support Staff Certification (LSSC) or is interested in pursuing professional development and certification opportunities.

Qualifications:

The minimum and preferred requirements are listed below. While the following requirements outline the minimum qualifications the County reserves the right to select applicants for further consideration who demonstrate the best qualifications match for the job. Meeting the minimum qualifications does not guarantee further participation in selection procedures:

Education and Experience:
MINIMUM:60 semester or 90 quarter units from an accredited college in a field related to the work and some experience providing outreach or library services to the public. Relevant experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.  
PREFERRED:In addition to the minimum, media studies or library certification with additional years of progressively responsible library experience or a Masters Degree in Library Science.

Licenses and Certification:

  • The ability to obtain a valid California Class C driver's license within ten (10) days of employment; maintain valid California Class C drivers license.
  • Typing Certificate: Minimum Net of 40 wpm. Typing Certificate must indicate results from a five (5) minute test with at least the minimum net wpm required. 


Special Requirements:

  • Will be required to work evening and weekend shifts. 
  • Attend and conduct workshops and meetings.
  • Must successfully complete an extensive and thorough background investigation which includes Live Scan fingerprinting. 
  • Will be required to perform disaster service activities pursuant to Government Code 3100-3109.

Salary/Compensation: $22.82 - $25.11 per hour
