Job Description:

 

Jefferson Community College, part of the State University of New York (SUNY), is currently conducting a search for the Director of Military Enrollment and Workforce Solutions.

The Director of Military Enrollment and Workforce Solutions directs both the Military Enrollment and Workforce Solutions offices, overseeing non-credit workforce training, community education, professional development, and business and industry programs. The Director partners with employers, community organizations, government agencies, and educational institutions to develop programs that support regional workforce and economic development in the North Country region.

The Director also oversees credit course delivery at Fort Drum, ensuring programs meet the needs of students, employers, and the community. The position supervises program and instructional staff and is responsible for program planning, implementation, quality, outcomes assessment, fiscal management, compliance, enrollment growth, and continuous improvement of Jefferson Community College's workforce and military education initiatives.

Departmental Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic leadership for the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of non-credit workforce development, community education, professional development and certification.
  • Conducts workforce and community needs assessments to identify educational and training opportunities aligned with regional economic development priorities.
  • Develops innovative programming in partnership with employers, government agencies, workforce organizations, educational institutions, and community stakeholders.
  • Cultivates and maintains strong relationships with business, industry, military, government, educational, and community partners.
  • Represents the College on workforce development councils, community organizations, and professional associations.
  • Leads workforce development initiatives supported through grants, consortium activities, and regional partnerships.
  • Provides leadership and supervision to program coordinators, faculty, advisors, and support staff involved in non-credit programming and Fort Drum operations.
  • Oversees departmental recruitment, onboarding, development, supervision, and evaluation of faculty and staff.
  • Develops and manages program budgets, and resource allocation to ensure fiscal sustainability and growth.
  • Negotiates and administers contracts, partnership agreements, and vendor relationships.
  • Oversees operational systems supporting program development, registration, enrollment management, instructional delivery, and assessment.
  • Leads strategic marketing, recruitment, and enrollment initiatives to support enrollment and revenue goals.
  • Collaborates with College marketing and enrollment staff to promote educational opportunities through digital, print, and community outreach efforts.
  • Uses data and assessment results to evaluate program effectiveness and support continuous improvement.
  • Prepares reports, presentations, and recommendations regarding program performance and workforce needs.
  • Identifies grant opportunities, prepares proposals, and oversees implementation and compliance of funded projects.
  • Directs College operations at the Fort Drum campus, including course scheduling, budget administration, student support services, and military-community partnerships.
  • Collaborates with Fort Drum personnel and regional stakeholders to expand educational access and workforce training opportunities.
  • Delegates operational responsibilities appropriately while maintaining accountability for program outcomes.
  • Performs other related duties as required/assigned.

 

Requirements:

 

Required: Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of appropriate professional experience or masters degree and at least 4 years of appropriate professional experience.

Applicants must interact and communicate effectively with diverse populations, foster inclusion, and promote equal access and treatment for groups traditionally underrepresented in higher education.

Preferred: Experience in higher education or related field preferred, with demonstrated success in managing complex operations and leading diverse teams.

Departmental Duties

$52,240 - $72,000 - Compensation will be aligned with the selected candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications as well as internal equity and in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement. The College offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes NYS retirement, medical, vision, and dental insurance, long-term disability, generous leave policies, paid holidays, pre-tax flexible spending accounts, tax-deferred compensation, as well as employee and dependent tuition waivers; may qualify for Public Service Loan Forgiveness.
