As a Skookum Employee Support Specialist, you will be responsible for working directly with applicants, employees and supervisors to assist in outreach, recruitment, training, accommodation, and support of employees with disabilities. We are looking for an individual who has experience working with Veterans transitioning to civilian work. This position reports three times a week to the Skookum JBLM office and two times a week to our King County office. Typical duties include but are not limited to: Assist with identifying and recruiting Veterans with disabilities for open positions within our Aerospace Manufacturing division. Assist with mentoring and monitoring the on-the-job training needs for new employees. Build and maintain connections with community agencies such as the Washington State Department of Vocational Rehab, Department of Veterans Affairs as well as medical providers who support persons with disabilities. Connect with local agencies who support Wounded Warriors. Visit worksite locations multiple times per week to support employees. Facilitate a veteran and disability friendly work environment that fosters teamwork. Be instrumental in creating a strong and supportive veteran culture in a manufacturing aerospace company. Increase veteran retention by providing mentorship and trainings on leadership and problem solving. Review and assess disability documentation for applicants and current employees. Obtain qualifying or updated disability documentation as needed from personnel. This position requires strong professional writing and excellent time-management skills. Job Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Must have at least 3 years of Social Service, Human Resources, Recruiting, or Vocational Rehabilitation experience. Experience with manufacturing in the Aerospace industry preferred. Proficient in the use of general office equipment and computers, MS Office products, and with data management. This position requires an extremely perceptive person who is capable of working with a wide variety of individuals at all levels. Valid Driver’s license required. Must be able to obtain and maintain approval to operate a vehicle by Skookum’s insurance carrier. Must be able to obtain and maintain all applicable security credentials and clearances.
