Entry-Level Firefighter/Paramedic

Job Description

The City of Brooklyn, Ohio, Civil Service Commission will hold a written
examination for the position of Entry-Level Firefighter/Paramedic on
Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at 6:00 PM at the Brooklyn Community/Senior Center, 7727 Memphis Avenue, Brooklyn, Ohio.
Applications are available at Brooklyn City Hall, 8000 Memphis Ave. -
Monday, August 17, 2026 - Friday, October 2, 2026 from 8 AM until 4 PM and are also available on our website (www.brooklynohio.gov).
Completed and signed applications and all attachments must be returned to Brooklyn City Hall - Monday, August 17, 2026 - Friday, October 2, 2026 from 8 AM until 4 PM. Applications can also be submitted by email to:
humanresources@brooklynohio.gov.

Applications submitted through Cleveland.com will not be
accepted per City Civil Service rules.

Must be at least 18 and no more than 35 years old (copy of birth
certificate); possess a valid Driver's License (copy required); required to have a HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR GED; must provide copy of diploma from highest level of education attained; must be a U.S. citizen or have
legally declared the intention of becoming a U.S. citizen.

Candidates passing written test (score of 70% or more) will be required to provide proof of a current and successful Tri-C Physical Agility Test and must also possess State of Ohio Certification for Fire Fighter I & II and Paramedic prior to consideration for employment.

Extra Credit: Veterans - 10 points. Veterans must verify military service by presenting Dept. of Defense Form-DD214 and proof of honorable
discharge. Veterans who served more than 180 days active duty other than for training purposes and have been honorably discharged will be
eligible for the credit. Current part-time firefighter/paramedic with the City of Brooklyn, Ohio - 1 point for every 3 (three) months of continuous service. Total not to exceed 10 (ten) points. Eligible candidates'
employment records will be verified and confirmed with the city of
Brooklyn, Ohio Payroll Department. Extra credit will only be added to those receiving a score of 70% or higher on the written exam.

Any candidate for a position in the classified service shall be disqualified for falsifying information or fraudulent conduct of any kind in connection with a Civil Service Examination.
