PEER RECOVERY SPECIALIST

Goochland Powhatan Community Services is seeking a Full-Time Peer Recovery Specialist to join our team.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Position provides peer support, education, and advocacy to adults with SMI and SUD. Responsibilities include helping consumers build coping, problem-solving, and social skills while supporting recovery and community integration. The position collaborates with clinicians, case managers, psychiatric staff, and community providers to coordinate services and connect consumers with treatment, peer supports, and community resources.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education

High School Diploma/GED 

Experience

One year providing services to individuals with substance use and/or mental health disorders
Personal experience with mental health and substance use disorders and recovery

License(s)

Position will be required to possess a valid Virginia driver's license; Certification and Registration with Board of Counseling as a Peer Recovery Specialist or completion of such within 6 months of hire
