Light Commercial HVAC Service Technician (SIGN ON BONUS)
Bell Mechanical Services is seeking an experienced Light Commercial HVAC Service Technician with proven, hands-on experience in rooftop units (RTUs), Variable Air Volume (VAV) systems, low-voltage control wiring, and comprehensive preventive maintenance.
This position is ideal for technicians who can independently diagnose, service, and maintain light commercial HVAC infrastructure. This is a dedicated commercial service role. Applicants without light commercial diagnostic skills, controls experience, or required tools will not be considered.
What You'll Do
- Service & Troubleshooting: Diagnose, troubleshoot, service, and repair light commercial HVAC systems, with a strong focus on Rooftop Units (RTUs) and VAV systems.
- Controls & Electrical: Read electrical schematics, wire low-voltage control systems, and troubleshoot controls issue on commercial equipment.
- Preventive Maintenance: Perform comprehensive preventive maintenance, system inspections, belt/filter replacements, and coil cleanings to minimize equipment downtime.
- Documentation & Communication: Complete accurate service tickets, maintenance logs, and work orders; communicate technical issues clearly with commercial property managers, building maintenance teams, and dispatch.
- Emergency Response: Participate in a scheduled on-call rotation for emergency commercial service requests.
- Professionalism: Maintain a fully stocked, organized company service vehicle, personal tools, and a professional site appearance.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of recent, hands-on light commercial HVAC service experience.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills on RTUs, VAV boxes, split systems, and commercial package units.
- Proven proficiency with control wiring, low-voltage circuits, transformers, and commercial thermostats/controls.
- Demonstrated history of delivering thorough, structured preventive maintenance.
- Must own and maintain the hand tools, gauges, and meters required for commercial HVAC service work.
- EPA Universal Certification required.
- NATE Certification or commercial manufacturer training (e.g., Carrier, Trane, Lennox) is a major plus.
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver's license with a clean, insurable driving record.
- Must pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening.
- Physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs, climb commercial roof ladders, work comfortably on flat/pitched roofs, and tolerate varying outdoor weather conditions.
