The Menands Union Free School District is seeking an experienced, hands-on, and collaborative Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds to oversee the daily operations, maintenance, and long-term planning of our districts facilities and grounds. The successful candidate will be a visible leader who values teamwork, communicates effectively, and takes pride in maintaining high-quality learning environments.

Responsibilities

The Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds is responsible for the leadership and supervision of all district custodial, maintenance, and grounds operations, including but not limited to:

• Direct and supervise the daily operations of the Buildings and Grounds Department.
• Perform routine and emergency maintenance, repairs, and facility improvement projects while supervising and working alongside the custodial team.
• Supervise, support, and evaluate custodial staff.
• Develop work schedules, assign priorities, and monitor completion of projects.
• Coordinate preventative maintenance programs to maximize the life of district facilities and equipment.
• Oversee facility repairs, renovations, and capital improvement projects.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Coordinate inspections, testing, and required reporting for building systems.
• Develop specifications, obtain quotes, and oversee outside contractors.
• Assist with budget development and monitor expenditures for the Buildings and Grounds Department.
• Maintain inventories of equipment, supplies, and materials.
• Collaborate closely with district administration to ensure facilities support instructional programs and community events.

Qualifications

The successful candidate should possess:

• Experience supervising facilities, maintenance, custodial, or operations staff.
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Knowledge of building systems, preventative maintenance, safety regulations, and facility operations.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects while maintaining a high level of customer service.
• Working knowledge of New York State regulations related to school facilities is preferred.
• Appropriate Civil Service qualifications or the ability to meet Albany County Civil Service requirements.

Compensation

• Salary: $70,000
• Comprehensive benefits package in accordance with district policy and applicable agreements.
