Basic Information

  • Perform fabrication, such as cutting and welding, to make a finished product.
  • Tack-weld fitted parts together in proper manner according to the guidelines.
  • Remove high spots and cut bevels, using hand files, portable grinders, and cutting torches to company standards.
  • Verify conformance of work pieces to specifications, using squares, rulers, and measuring tapes in accordance with company drawings and with company standards.
  • Align and fit parts using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, and hammers according to specifications.
  • Move parts into position, manually or with hoists or cranes.
  • Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units or subunits, following blueprints and layout specifications, and using jigs, cutting torches, and hand tools as directed.
  • Understand drawings and directions to determine material requirements and task sequences. Examine metal stock or work pieces to be processed to ensure that specifications are met. Maintain tools, equipment and shop area for the purpose of ensuring the availability and functioning of required tools and equipment within a safe work area.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. Maintain punctual attendance in accordance with shop schedule and company's attendance requirements.
  • Perform functions in a safe manner in accordance with company standards.
  • Keep work area clean, safe and organized.
