Job Description:
The Office of Institutional Effectiveness at Siena University is seeking applications for a full-time administrative position of Associate Director of Institutional Effectiveness. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs for Institutional Effectiveness, the Director of Institutional Effectiveness is a champion for assessment at Siena. The primary responsibilities for this position include managing Siena's two major year-round assessment processes, administrative assessment and academic assessment. Working in consultation with the AVPAA-IE, the Associate Director will expand academic assessment processes and lead process improvements. The Associate Director produces institutional data reports and may be called upon to participate in or lead the development of ad hoc internal surveys. In collaboration with the AVPAA-IE, the position is expected to participate in projects related to institutional accreditation. The Associate Director participates in and provides administrative support to the Student Learning Assessment Committee.
Key Responsibilities
- Management of the annual academic assessment cycle, including: communication with campus stakeholders, the assessment report submission processes, submission tracking, review of documents, provision of written feedback, and meeting with units; produce annual summary report.
- Management of the annual administrative assessment cycle, including: communication with campus stakeholders, the assessment report submission processes, submission tracking, review of documents, provision of written feedback, and meeting with units; produce annual summary report.
- With the AVPAA-IE, develop assessment systems for minors, concentrations, tracks, and certificates
- Manage associated internal assessment document repositories
- Ensure assessment content on the OIE website is complete and up to date in alignment with the expectations of Siena's institutional accreditor
- Serve as a member of the Student Learning Assessment Committee and coordinate the work of the committee in collaboration with the AVPAA-IE
- Produce internal reports communicating survey results, alone or in collaboration with OIE team members
Requirements:
Required Qualifications
- M.S. in a relevant field (i.e. education, social sciences, etc.)
- Quantitative research skills including knowledge of experimental design, data analysis, and statistical methods (proficiency with SPSS desired)
- Experience with the assessment of student learning, rubric development; and understanding of assessment validity
- Understanding of learning theory, cognitive theories of teaching and learning, and instructional design
- Understanding of best practices in course and curriculum design
- Experience using Qualtrics or similar software
- Strong to expert-level Microsoft Excel skills
- Familiarity with administrative (non-academic) assessment approaches
- Understanding of best practices in the development and administration of survey tools and reporting of survey data
- Oral presentation skills and the ability to provide assessment consultation or training to faculty, staff, and administrators
- Demonstrated technical writing and data presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in a relevant field (i.e. education, social sciences, etc.)
- Qualitative research skills and understanding of qualitative methods
- Experience with SPSS Syntax
- Fluency with Microsoft Excel, demonstrated ability as a highly experienced user
- Experience with Etrieve or similar internal document management software
- Experience with Ellucian Banner or similar enterprise resource planning software
- Experience with SQL (Structured Query Language) or other coding or natural language processing languages
- Demonstrated experience applying best practices in the development and administration of survey tools
- Past teaching experience
- Two years of experience leading or supporting assessment work
- Experience working in a higher education environment
- Awareness of higher education accreditation cycles
- Awareness of the significance of institutional compliance with the mandates of authorizing bodies

Pay Rate: $68,600
*The hiring pay rate above represents the University's good faith estimate at the time of posting in compliance with the Albany County Salary Transparency Law.
