Construction Estimator

Millbrook Building & Remodeling, Inc is a General Contractor and Construction Management firm seeking a construction estimator to join our group. This person will work directly with and support our Lead Estimator, Project Manager and jobsite carpenters. The Candidate will be working in QuickBooks and will need to be proficient in the MS Office Suite (Excel/Word/Outlook); possess superior mathematical, analytical, and verbal communication skills and be self-motivated. The Candidates ability to read and understand construction documents i.e. specifications/drawings is required. Must be thorough in your work; attention to detail and accuracy is essential; and must meet deadlines. Three to five years of experience in a similar role in construction is preferred. Initial responsibilities entail: Calculating and preparing complete quantity take-offs and cost estimates by hand; soliciting and follow-up to secure subcontractor bids and vendor quotes as well as material cost tracking and procurement. Roles and Responsibilities

  • Analyze drawings and specifications.
  • Attend site visits and pre-bid meetings.
  • Prepare bids and proposals across multiple contract types (Lump Sum, GMP and Cost Plus).
  • Prepare detailed quantity take-offs for projects ranging from $250,000 - $3.0 million
  • Organize & evaluate sub-contractors quotations.
  • Established subcontractor network with experience soliciting, evaluating and discussing bids
  • Value Engineering: Ability to develop value analysis studies defining cost efficient alternatives
  • RFIs, Submittals, As-Builts & may include O&Ms & Change Orders
  • Understanding BABAA Requirements
  • Collaboration and Teamwork

Qualifications and Experience

  • Reviews and analyzes drawings, specifications, & other construction documents
  • Experience and familiarity with the construction industry
  • Very detail oriented, organized, analytical, reliable, able to process information quickly & accurately
  • Established computer competency to include MS Office Suite and remote meeting applications (Zoom, Teams, etc.)
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop in Construction
  • Proficiency in Submittal Exchange/Smartsheet/On-Screen Takeoff/Google and Dropbox
  • Proficiency in Adobe
  • Exceptional communication skills.

Education:
Formal education and training required to perform essential job functions.

  • 2-4 year Degree in Business/Management/Architecture/Engineering/Construction Management or similar

Experience:
This position requires a minimum of five (5) years experience in a commercial construction setting.

  • Estimating: 2-3 years
  • Construction: 1-3 years work in construction field is preferred. College internship is ok.

Job Type: Full-time Inhouse Position

Salary: Competitive Wages based on level of experience and qualifications ($80,000 - $100,000 per year)
