Director of After School Programming & Bowling Operations
Reports To: Sr. Director of Marketing & Programs
Full-Time, Exempt. $62, 358 annually.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week (May thru August 8:30 AM-5:30 PM/September-April 12:00 PM-9:00 PM or conclusion of league play). Ability to work occasional weekends as needed.  Schedule adjustments to be coordinated with supervisor.

 

Position Summary 

The Director of After School Programming & Bowling Operations provides yearround leadership for two core areas of the Clark Sports Center: the After School Program and the Bowling Center. This position oversees the daily operations of the afterschool program, serving approximately 120 youth each afternoon during the academic year, ensuring a safe, structured, and engaging environment supported by consistent procedures, strong supervision, and clear communication with families and school partners.

A central responsibility for this role is to create and maintain an enjoyable, optionfilled experience for kindergarten through sixth graders, offering a variety of age-appropriate activities that promote engagement, and positive social development.

The Director also leads the daily operations of the Bowling Center, ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for youth, families, leagues, and community members. Responsibilities include staff supervision, scheduling, customer service, and operational oversight. The individual must be willing to train on Brunswick systems and engage in basic mechanical troubleshooting and must also be willing to learn and use Club Automation for scheduling, member management, and operational workflows. A key expectation of this role is to develop creative ideas, programs, and promotions that expand bowling traffic and increase member engagement.

In addition to these primary responsibilities, the Director provides oversight and support for the Game Room, ensuring a safe, supervised, and enjoyable environment for youth and members.

When the afterschool program is not in session, this position provides flexible support across the Sports Center to ensure highdemand areas remain well staffed and operational.

 

 Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. After School Program Oversight
  1. Lead daily operations of the afterschool program, ensuring safety, structure, and positive engagement.
  2. Create and maintain an enjoyable, optionfilled experience for kindergarten through sixth graders, offering a variety of structured activities that promote choice, creativity, and positive social interaction.
  3. Maintain check-ins, supervision, activity rotation, and parent pickup procedures.
  4. Supervise, train, and support parttime afterschool staff.
  5. Manage behavior expectations, respond to incidents, and maintain accurate documentation.
  6. Serve as the primary point of contact for parents and guardians.
  7. Ensure compliance with Clark Sports Center policies, safety standards, and risk management practices.

 

  1. Bowling Operations
  1. Oversee daily operations of the Bowling Center, ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for members, youth, leagues, and community groups.
  2. Coordinate lane scheduling, league support, youth bowling activities, and special events.
  3. Train, schedule, and supervise bowling staff to ensure consistent service and operational reliability.
  4. Monitor lane conditions and equipment functionality; coordinate maintenance and repairs as needed.
  5. Basic mechanical troubleshooting is required. Formal training will be provided by Brunswick.
  6. Ability to learn and use Club Automation for scheduling, lane reservations, and member interactions is required.
  7. Develop creative ideas, programs, and promotions to expand bowling traffic, increase visibility, and strengthen community engagement.
  8. Support marketing and program promotion in collaboration with the Sr. Director of Marketing & Programs.
  9. Uphold safety standards, customer service expectations, and memberfirst practices.

 

  1. Game Room Oversight 
  1. Provide supervision and operational oversight of the Game Room to ensure a safe, enjoyable, and wellmonitored environment.
  2. Maintain equipment, games, and activity spaces to ensure readiness, cleanliness, and safety.
  3. Support youth engagement by promoting positive behavior and appropriate use of equipment.
  4. Assist with scheduling, staffing, and coverage as needed to maintain consistent supervision.

 

  1. General Sports Center Operations
  1. Provide crossdepartmental support during peak hours, staff shortages, or special events.
  2. Assist with floor coverage, member engagement, and facility supervision.
  3. Contribute to a positive, memberfirst culture through proactive service and problem solving.
  4. Participate in staff meetings, training, and organizational initiatives.

 

Qualifications 

Required 

  1. Experience working with youth in structured program settings.
  2. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  3. Ability to supervise staff and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  4. Commitment to safety, inclusion, and highquality member service.
  5. Willingness to attend and successfully complete training on Brunswick systems (paid/reimbursed by the Clark Sports Center).
  6. Willingness to learn and effectively utilize Club Automation software.
  7. Ability to work within a team setting.
  8. CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 60 days).

 

Preferred 

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Education, Sports Management, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  2. Experience in afterschool programs, youth recreation, or bowling operations.
  3. Background in facility operations, customer service, or event coordination.
  4. Familiarity with youth development principles and behaviormanagement strategies.
