Employee will report to the County Assessor and will establish real estate values for residential, non-residential and commercial properties. This position will require working outdoors in all types of climates and terrain. Employee will assist co-workers in assessing every property within the county, determine proper appreciation or depreciation of structures and/or land, sketch buildings, take measurements, and enter all information pertaining to appraisal on property computer records. All duties will be performed under minimal supervision. Employee may be required to work irregular hours, attend job-related meetings, and perform other duties as assigned.
Starting Pay Range: $21.00 - $23.18 PER HOUR DOE
Education: High School Diploma or GED certificate required.
Experience: Two (2) years of experience in assessment work preferred. On the Job Training will be provided.
Certifications: Certification by the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) and have the courses in the order as Property Tax Division states. Employee will be required to take and pass IAAO Course 101,102, 201 and 300 with course 101 to be passed within 18 months of hire. Employee is required to become a NM Certified Appraiser within the first five years of employment as an Appraiser. All New Mexico Certified Appraisers must comply with PTD education requirements for continuing education.
