Maywood Public Schools is seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Special Education Teacher with a strong background in Language Arts to support students in grades 4–8 within a resource room setting. The successful candidate will provide targeted literacy instruction, implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and collaborate with general education teachers to ensure all students have access to grade-level curriculum and meaningful learning experiences.
Responsibilities
- Provide small-group, targeted instruction in reading and writing aligned to NJSLS
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals with an emphasis on literacy growth
- Utilize data-driven instructional practices to support student progress
- Collaborate with general education teachers, Child Study Team members, and related service providers
- Maintain compliance with NJ special education regulations and timelines
- Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress
Qualifications
- Valid New Jersey Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD) certification or Teacher of the Handicapped certification
- Language Arts Literacy certification (or strong background in ELA instruction) preferred
- Experience working with middle school students (grades 4–8 preferred)
- Knowledge of evidence-based literacy interventions and differentiated instruction
- Strong organizational, collaboration, and communication skills
