Who We Are: Lakeside United Methodist Church is a warm community-based church having approximately 350 members within the metropolitan area of Richmond and Henrico County, VA.

Position Description: Administrative Assistant/Financial Secretary responsible for daily administrative and finance-related matters of the church in a confidential manner. Position reports to the Pastor, in cooperation with the Staff Parish Relations Committee.

Hours: 28 hours/week (in-office) Monday – Thursday, 8:30 am – 4:00 pm

Compensation: $20.95 – $22.32 per hour based on qualifications and experience

Benefits: Paid sick time and vacation leave 

Qualifications and Skills Needed:

  • High school diploma required, higher education degree preferred;
  • 3-5 years in administration and bookkeeping;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; ProPresenter, Constant Contact, graphic design, website management, accounting software; ability to quickly learn new software
  • Work independently and meet deadlines;
  • Creativity in developing bulletins, newsletters and website content; and
  • Ability to be bondable for handling finances.

Administrative Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Designing and producing church newsletters, bulletins, and announcements or flyers;
  • Maintaining church website and calendar;
  • Handling correspondence, calls, mail, filing, supplies, equipment, etc.;
  • Maintaining Council and committee minutes;
  • Maintaining database of church attendance, membership and giving;
  • Preparing church-related documents for baptisms, confirmations, marriages, etc.; and
  • Other tasks as needed by the Pastor and/or church committee leadership.

Financial Secretary Responsibilities:

  • Bookkeeping responsibilities includes accounts payables, check writing and payroll preparation, maintaining financial reports, bank statements, etc., in coordination with church Treasurer;
  • Maintaining records of church giving and quarterly statements to donors;
  • Reconciling credit card statements with credit card receipts.
