Summary:

Responsible for the duties associated with the administration and supervision of Family & Consumer Sciences (FCS) Education programs. The position provides leadership, develops instructional strategies, and serves as a resource for teachers and administrators to assure program quality and improvement.

 

Education and Experience:
Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Family & Consumer Sciences or equivalent combination of education, training and experience in related field.
  • Teaching certification – preference Family and Consumer Sciences.
  • Three years of teaching or administrative experience or equivalent industry experience.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree
  • Knowledge of the CareerTech system

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide customer service support for the FCS Education experiences for the assigned region. Provide technical support, consultation, and individualized assistance and support FCS instructors, coordinators, and administrators.
  • Assist in the planning, developing, implementing programs to meet the career and technology education needs as requested by local education agencies, and identified by local and statewide guidelines.
  • Conduct program evaluations to ensure quality and assist with program improvement.
  • Encourage innovative approaches for instruction and delivery.
  • Plan and implement high impact professional development training and technical assistance for teachers and staff based on priorities and needs.
  • Serve as a resource and coach to ensure new teachers successfully transition into the teaching profession.
  • Participate in committees and advisory boards and contribute to developing policies and program initiatives in FCS. 
  • Monitor nationwide trends for relevance and potential program impact and student employability.
  • Assist in providing guidance and leadership to the student organization and assist with student conference activities.

 

Salary and Benefits:

$56,985.95 - $66,889.04

Total salary and benefits package valued at $72,001.01 - $95,540.62.

No management responsibility.

 

Communication Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, financial reports, and legal documents as necessary. Respond to common inquiries or complaints from internal and external customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the community; write complex documents in a prescribed format; effectively present information to the leadership team, public groups, boards of directors, etc.

 

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to apply moderately complex mathematical equations as applicable. 

 

Reasoning Skills:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

 

Licenses, Certificates, and Registrations:

Valid driver’s license and a teaching certificate.

 

Other Job-Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to collaborate effectively with career and technology education instructors, counselors, and administrators. Knowledge of school administration and school laws is helpful. Computer skills and experience in Microsoft Office or comparable software.

 

Physical Demands:

Ability to lift 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.  

 

Work Environment:

Position officed on site at CareerTech in Stillwater, with the option to utilize field based officing. The position requires reporting to the Stillwater office at the manager’s discretion. Requires moderate travel within the state for industry, school visits, and conferences with limited out-of-state travel required.
