Industrial Construction Estimator
Location: Middleburg Heights, Ohio (Cleveland Operations Team)

About the Opportunity
Stevens Engineers & Constructors is seeking a highly motivated Industrial Construction Estimator to join our team. This role is critical in creating accurate estimates for complex projects within the steel, chemical, power, and oil & gas sectors. You will be responsible for developing complete estimates—ranging from conceptual designs to detailed construction documents—to support both competitive bidding and contract negotiations.
Key Responsibilities
- Estimate Development: Prepare detailed estimates for all design stages, including Conceptual, Schematic, Design Development, and final Construction Documents.
- Documentation & Scope: Review plans, specifications, and RFIs to develop comprehensive bid packages and quantity take-offs for materials, labor, and equipment.
- Technical Analysis: Research construction documents to determine costs, identify constructability issues, and propose value-engineering ideas or life-cycle costing.
- Collaboration: Consult with clients, subcontractors, and vendors to resolve issues, formulate estimates, and negotiate competitive pricing for materials and subcontracts.
- Project Strategy: Assist operations teams in planning construction procedures, staffing requirements, and schedules based on project specifications.
- Administrative Support: Maintain up-to-date cost databases; prepare internal job setup documentation (Award of Contract, Code of Accounts); and manage purchase orders/subcontracts.
Skill Factors & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil/Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in the construction industry, with at least 3 years specifically in industrial construction estimating.
- Software Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project) and industry software such as InEight, Primavera P6, and Viewpoint.
- Analytical Thinking: Strong ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with a focus on accuracy and precise attention to detail.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build lasting relationships with team members, vendors, and clients.
