We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Director, Emergency Department (Nights) to join our leadership team.
Position Summary
Under the direction of the Executive Director of Emergency Services, the Assistant Director is responsible for advancing clinical excellence, patient safety, and operational efficiency across Emergency Services during night operations.
This leader plays a critical role in driving evidence-based practice, leading quality improvement initiatives, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards—all while fostering a collaborative, high-performing care environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support clinical practice to ensure safe, high-quality, and efficient patient care
- Oversee and drive quality improvement (QI) initiatives across Emergency Services
- Facilitate process improvement efforts focused on patient safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence
- Collaborate closely with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
- Ensure alignment with organizational goals, including accreditation standards and regulatory requirements
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
- Provide leadership presence and operational oversight during night shift operations
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
- Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) preferred
Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience
- Experience in emergency services, adult, pediatric, or inpatient care preferred
- Prior experience within University Health is a plus
Licensure & Certification:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required
- Additional certifications preferred
