Experienced GPS Dozer Operator

Job Description — Join a 5th generation, family-owned Wisconsin regional construction contractor specializing in mass excavation, underground utility installation, and aggregate production. James Peterson Sons, Inc. serves public works, DOT, and private commercial and residential infrastructure clients throughout Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We are seeking an experienced GPS dozer operator to join our crews for the upcoming construction season. The ideal candidate will bring heavy/highway or utility construction experience, strong safety awareness, dependability, and a collaborative attitude. This position requires hands-on operation of modern GPS-guided dozers on varied job sites and terrain.

Primary Responsibilities

• Safely operate GPS-equipped dozers and related heavy equipment on earthmoving and utility sites
• Use GPS controls and grade-checking tools to meet project specifications and elevations
• Perform daily maintenance, checks, and minor repairs on equipment to ensure safe operation
• Communicate with foremen, surveyors, and spotters to coordinate work and maintain site efficiency
• Perform other construction duties as assigned, including assisting with trenching, backfill, and traffic control

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating dozers on heavy/highway or underground utility projects
• Familiarity with GPS dozer systems and basic grade-reading techniques
• Valid drivers license and acceptable driving record
• Ability to travel to multiple project sites across Wisconsin and the UP of Michigan as required
• Physically able to walk, stand, lift, push, pull, and carry heavy objects for extended periods
• Commitment to working safely in all weather and site conditions; must pass pre-employment drug test
