in Southfield, MI, responsible for developing, maintaining, and interacting with key auto engineering contacts at customer engineering centers and conducting risk assessment and material strategy analysis using knowledge of auto steel products. Reqs: Bach. degree or equiv. in Mechanic. Eng., Material Eng., or a rel. field + 5 yrs of rel. exp. Must also have 24m of exp with each: 1) Proposing alternate solutions for automotive structural parts to meet global crash safety standards, while reducing the products mass and cost through the usage of AHSS; access vehicle architecture data from industry software tools; 2) Working with steel structural parts used in automotive manufacturing by leveraging AHSS, PHS, and Laser Welded Blanks; 3) Conduct risk analysis assessment for automotive steel products in the NA marketplace; 4) Develop, maintain, and interact with key automotive engineering contacts at major automotive companies and conduct material strategy analysis based on sound knowledge of automotive steel products and customers technical input; 5) Develop strategic plans to prioritize material developments for new platforms based on market needs; 6) Power BI to connect data for strategic decision making; statistical data analysis skills using MS Excel or equivalent tools; and 7) Proposing cost savings based on product availability and customer business strategy by calculating potential weight reduction through product substitution. Employer will accept exp gained concurrently. Telecommuting permissible 1 day/week. Must reside within commuting distance of Southfield, MI office. 15% intl and domestic trvl is required.
