Applications & Systems Engineer (00643A)

Job Description

Provide advanced IT engineering support and leadership for all campus partners/departments. Provide support for rollouts and ongoing support of electronic work order systems and provide the technical expertise necessary to efficiently manage modern “Smart Buildings” and other systems.
 
 
Required Qualifications:
 
  • Considerable knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures for enterprise system and application administration.
  • Considerable knowledge of the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures for the support of application-based databases and reporting.
  • Considerable knowledge of converged technologies and connected\smart devices and their interaction with network communications systems and protocols.
  • Working knowledge of Windows and Linux based operating systems.
  • Basic knowledge of programming, scripting and Web development for the support of enterprise application, systems and devices, using programs such as Python, HTML5, JavaScript, Java, PHP, C\C++, Perl, BASH, Powershell and others.
  • Basic knowledge of networking protocols and concepts such as TCP, UDP, ARP, DHCP, DNS, SNMP, subnetting, ACLs and firewalls
  • Ability to drive results in a complex environment and to work and finish multiple projects concurrently.
  • Ability to work with new leading-edge technology with minimal assistance or limited to no prior knowledge.
  • Considerable experience with systems and applications support and administration. Some experience with communications networks and network protocols.
  • Some experience with programming and scripting for the support, enhancement and integration of applications and systems.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical information to technical and non-technical people.
  • Proficient skill in the use of Microsoft Office software and database related software.
 
 
Special licenses, registration or certification:  
 
  • Valid driver’s License and insurable driving record.
 
 
Additional Considerations (supplemental knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, licensure, certification:
  • Working experience with the administration and support of CBORD’s CS-Gold application and associated hardware.
  • Considerable Experience with FM: Systems or other Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Working Experience with “Smart Buildings” and “IoT” and the ability to apply these concepts to a broad variety of programs for the monitoring, control and automation of building systems.
  • Basic knowledge of programming DDC controllers with DOS-based line programming and digital management software.
  • Basic Knowledge of BacNet, Lon and Siemens communications protocols and devices.
