The Village of Cooperstown has an opening for the position of Street Superintendent. This is a full-time position with a starting salary of $27 per hour and benefits. Candidates must possess at least four years of satisfactory experience in the maintenance and repair of streets. Preference in appointment may be given to candidates with a valid Class A or B CDL. The Village Street Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, maintenance, and improvement of the Villages streets, roads, sidewalks, drainage systems, and related public infrastructure. Duties include supervising street department personnel, assigning work, maintaining equipment, and coordinating snow and ice removal, street repairs, paving, drainage, and roadside maintenance. The Superintendent operates and oversees the safe use of trucks, heavy equipment, and other machinery while ensuring proper maintenance and service schedules are followed. This position coordinates with Village officials, contractors, utility companies, and residents regarding street and infrastructure concerns. The Superintendent maintains work records, prepares reports, monitors materials and supplies, and assists with department budgets and purchasing. The position ensures compliance with applicable safety standards, regulations, and Village policies. Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills are required, along with the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and respond to emergency situations when necessary.
