Enrichment Specialist - Dog Handler

Applications without listed commercial dog care experience will be summarily rejected.

This position is FULL-TIME with OT on a ROTATING schedule. We cannot accommodate alternative schedules for school etc. at this time.

As an Enrichment Specialist, you will be responsible for the care and handling of play groups.

We operate 365 days a year; employees are expected to work weekends and evenings in all types of weather.

Approximately 60% of your time will be standing on your feet supervising play groups and cleaning up waste indoors and outdoors, 20% will be administrative including fielding enrollments, interacting with parents, scheduling, taking payments, and promoting other Central Bark services including Sleepover, Stay & Play, Grooming, Training, and suggesting high quality supplies available for purchase in the Market area. 20% will be spent on general cleaning of the facility, crating, feeding and bringing dogs to and from owners.

Pet CPR certified. Willing to complete within first 90 days.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):

• Using force-free, reward-based training methods at all times. Aversive methods are not permitted.
• Caring for and supervising play groups of dogs including, playing with dogs, brushing, petting, holding, crating, leashing, collaring, clothing (when jackets are needed), applying first aid, feeding, medicating, cleaning up after dogs, etc.
• Working as a team member with fellow employees and management to provide the highest quality experience for both the dogs and people in their care.
• Ensuring customer satisfaction is consistently obtained.
• Helps to support the efficient and effective operation of the facility.
• Helping to maintain the highest company standards in the delivery of all services.
• Is directly responsible for duties as assigned by management.
• Maintaining a clean and safe environment for dogs and people at all times. Cleaning duties such as cleaning up dog waste, sweeping, mopping, dusting, disinfecting, shoveling, cleaning crates, bathing dogs, etc.
• Is directly responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment at all times for the dogs in our care.
• Is directly responsible for providing and documenting the appropriate information about individual dogs and clients under their care including enrollments, payments, scheduling, and sending report cards to owners.
• Is responsible for reading and knowing and following all Company Policies and Procedures.

Education and/or Experience: Dog handling skills are required. Previous experience working with at least 12 dogs in a group. Understanding of dog behavior and body language. Experience in dog training a plus. Training sessions and seminars may be scheduled during non-working hours where your attendance may be required.

Physical Skills: Ability to perform a variety of demanding physical activities, including lifting a minimum of 50 pounds (whether it is a bag of dog food, a crate or a dog), standing for long periods of time, and enduring extreme outdoor temperatures. Grasping, pinching, and pulling skills are also needed to leash and collar dogs and to navigate them through spaces.

Reasoning Ability: An ability to define problems, analyze emergencies and think on your feet. Dogs can get into scuffles at any time and it is the employees’ job to keep everyone safe. Reading dog’s behavior and catching key indicators of possible conflict is a must to insure safety and well-being of the playgroup.

Must have valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
