The Parks Business and Volunteer Specialist provides leadership and administrative oversight for department-wide volunteer services and assigned operational programs. This role is responsible for driving volunteer engagement, improving program operations, managing key financial and board administrative tasks, and ensuring alignment with departmental goals.
Key Responsibilities
Volunteer Program Leadership
Program Management: Design, evaluate, and continuously improve a comprehensive volunteer program, including recruitment, onboarding, engagement, recognition, and retention strategies.
Placement & Operations: Align volunteer assignments with departmental priorities, operational needs, risk considerations, and volunteer qualifications.
Analytics: Track and analyze volunteer participation, retention, and outcomes to guide future program decisions.
Administrative & Board Support
Board Operations: Serve as staff support for the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and assigned committees by preparing agendas, recording minutes, and maintaining records.
Records & Data Management: Handle records retention, filing, indexing, scanning, data entry, database creation, and report generation.
Safety Training Coordination: Facilitate department safety training by managing scheduling, maintaining compliance records, and enforcing safety procedures.
Financial Operations
Financial Controls: Process purchases, review receipts, manage invoices, and ensure accurate software entry.
Cash Management: Balance daily cash drawers, prepare deposits, issue refunds, and generate daily closing financial reports.
