Field Safety Coordinator

Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated and proactive Safety Coordinator who shares our commitment to excellence, safety, and teamwork. This position will work in both the corporate office as well have a strong presence in the field. This position will work closely with and be supported by the parent company.

Region:

Primarily Gen-Co LLC employees located in the Detroit, Michigan area. Occasionally the position will support remote sites outside of this area for vacations, set ups, additional focused support as needed.


Primary Objectives:

  • Perform site audits to evaluate site safety performance.
  • Updating, developing and implementing safety policies, procedures and documents.
  • Work with parent company to implement corporate policies and procedures at Gen-Co LLC.
  • Assist with injury incident response including: onsite injury support, incident investigation, assisting injured employee, developing/implementing corrective actions, following up on corrective action, and incident review discussions.
  • Support new employee orientation when necessary.
  • Manage vetting services such as ISNet world, Avetta and others when necessary.
  • Interface with customers on safety issues/concerns and necessary responses or improvements.
  • Assure all employees are properly trained. This will include delivering safety training presentations in person, developing training programs/presentations as well as assuring that employees have completed the requisite online training modules.
  • Lead the planning and development of new initiatives to improve safety at Gen-Go LLC (including but not limited to safety software, training, policies, procedures, etc.).
  • Assist foreman, superintends, project managers, other site safety personnel, and other site leadership in complying with safety standards and performing work in as safe a manner as possible.
  • Inspect field equipment (harness, lanyards, etc.) as part of site audits.
  • Observe special hazard tasks being performed in the field (i.e. complex shut downs/LOTO, working from heights, confined Space, energized work, etc.)
  • Other duties as necessary to support safety within the organization.

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Have a solid understanding of safety management, including how to implement procedures related to OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, and other regulatory standards.
  • Experience with PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and other computer software.
  • Preferred three years experience working with a major corporation or similar sized organization and within the electrical trade and/or a degree in related field.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work with all levels of personnel from trade employees to senior leadership.
  • A self-starter, able to identify, prioritize and commence work without direct supervision.
  • Good communication and presentation skills (verbal and written).
  • Position will require local and regional travel and occasional night or weekend work.
