Township of Grosse Ile, Wayne County, MI is soliciting applications for the position of DPS
MAINTENANCE II. Under the direction of the Department of Public Services Director, this
skilled labor position is responsible for the operation of utility equipment necessary to complete
public services projects as delegated by the DPS Director, DPS Maintenance Lead and/or his/her
designee. Duties include construction, maintenance, and operation of water utility distribution
networks and storm and wastewater collection systems and facilities. Additional responsibilities
include grounds, roads, and facility maintenance.
Successful candidates will have a minimum of two years of knowledge and experience in the
operation, use and application of utility equipment associated with excavation, clearing,
trenching, grading, and materials hauling. Successful candidates must be able acquire and
maintain within 18 months of hire at least a S-4 Water Operator license with the state of
Michigan and a CDL Class B State of Michigan Drivers License. Preference will be given to
candidates whom already hold these certifications. Union position. Hourly Rate - $24.51 to start
(position has a wage progression schedule, starting pay is 85% of the position pay, full position
pay of 100% at four-year anniversary). Full benefit package includes health, optical, dental, and
life insurance, paid vacation, sick, and personal time, and a defined benefit retirement program
