JOB SUMMARY: The Integrated Transportation Transit Management Systems Integration Specialist I is responsible for assisting the ITMS Integration Specialist II in the maintenance and operation of the corporations integrated transportation systems (ITS) at the hardware and application level.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Position Specific:

  • Support the ITMS Specialist II with the installation and maintenance of the following systems
    • Vehicle Fare Collections instruments and their integration into the ITS
    • Vehicle Location Systems and GPS components at the vehicle level
    • Voice Announcement Systems hardware and programming
    • Destination Sign integration to ITS
    • Diagnostic System equipment

Technical Skills:

  • Work with the Integration Specialist II to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair integrated transportation systems statewide
  • Apply knowledge of the architecture of ITS application integrations, interfaces, communication systems, independent components and co-dependent components and related subsystems
  • Perform testing and implement changes needed to maintain the integrity of existing ITS as well as make the systems more effective for supporting the corporation¿s fixed route and paratransit fleet operations
  • Identify problems that might interfere with the timely completion of a project, implement and provide solutions

Collaboration:

  • Interact on a regular basis with internal and external stakeholders to develop productive relationships that further the goals of the corporation

Compliance:

  • Apply policies and procedures in accordance with state/federal guidelines, corporate policies and collective bargaining agreements

Performs other duties as requested by Senior Management

QUALIFICATIONS:  The ITMS Integration Specialist I must have knowledge of electrical principles and of basic hand tool use and safety guidelines. The ability to apply the application of current and evolving information technology to the workload is also required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Demonstrate strong motivational, time management, problem-solving and organizational skills.  Ability to set priorities and present and speak publicly. Ability to be detail oriented. Ability to work independently under general supervision. Ability to exercise independent judgement and to keep information confidential. Ability to organize complex materials and manage multiple projects.

COMPUTER SKILLS: Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office software products specifically Excel, PowerPoint and Word. A working knowledge of computers and integration between software and operating components is necessary.

CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS: Strong interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and create positive connections with customers. The ability to meet goals to increase efficiency and improve customer service.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma (Associates degree preferred).  One (1) to three (3) years experience in installing, testing and troubleshooting electrical components.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES/REGISTRATIONS: Comp TIA Certifications preferred. Certificates in electrical related fields preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to read electrical schematics. Ability to respond to inquiries. Ability to construct flow charts and to write clear, concise and informative reports. Bilingual a plus

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with significant mathematical concepts. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Ability to prepare time and cost estimates.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to maintain a level and appropriate business demeanor.
