Deputy Superintendent of Public Works – Township of River Vale
Salary Range $110,000-$140,000

The Township of River Vale is seeking an experienced, proactive, and hands-on leader to serve as the Deputy to the Superintendent of Public Works.
Reporting directly to the Public Works Superintendent, this position assists in overseeing the daily operations of the Department of Public Works.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to road maintenance, snow removal, infrastructure projects, the management and maintenance of stormwater systems, landscaping and shade tree maintenance, safety training and OSHA compliance, department administration, budgeting, and staff supervision.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership and problem-solving skills. The position requires the ability to coordinate multiple departmental programs and projects, prepare reports and correspondence; organize workflow, maintain records; and develop efficient operational methods.
Additional qualifications include the ability to read and interpret rules, regulations, policies, and procedures and apply them appropriately. Effectively communicate with vendors, contractors, employees, and the public. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
Experience in manual labor, public works operations, or operating heavy equipment is considered a plus. Heavy manual labor in adverse weather conditions is required.
A Certified Public Works Manager (CPWM) certification is preferred but not required at the time of hire. In accordance with N.J.S.A. 40A:9-154.6B et seq., the successful candidate must obtain the CPWM certifications and Certificates. A valid New Jersey driver’s license is required in accordance with N.J.S.A 52:14-7 (L.2011, Chapter 70).
Successful applicants must undergo a background check and drug test along with a drivers abstract prior to appointment.
