NURSE INVESTIGATOR
The North Carolina Board of Nursing is seeking a Nurse Investigator.
Primary responsibilities of this position are investigating complaints of potential violations of
the Nursing Practice Act. Applicant must be a strong communicator (both written and
verbal), with interview skills, analytical skills, and report writing skills. A successful applicant
must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, be self-motivated, and have
excellent time-management skills. The individual selected must have the ability to
effectively communicate with employers, licensees, and attorneys, prepare investigative
reports, and provide effective testimony in contested cases. Additional responsibilities
include responding to inquiries about nursing practice and consulting with employers.
Applicant will be responsible for examining, analyzing, and interpreting medical, business,
personal, and public records to determine facts and verify authenticity. Applicant must be
proficient in Microsoft Office with the ability to learn custom software applications.
Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in nursing and must be actively engaged in
nursing practice with a minimum of five consecutive years; must have an unencumbered
license to practice nursing in North Carolina or be eligible for licensure in North Carolina.
Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Full-time position located in Board
of Nursing’s Raleigh office. Valid driver’s license required.
