Senior Project Manager

Job Description

Otter Tail Power Company is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Senior Project Manager to lead the execution of large transmission projects from early development through construction and final closeout. This role oversees all aspects of scheduling, budgeting, cost control, and risk management while coordinating consultant hiring, public outreach, landowner and agency engagement, route development, permitting activities, and securing necessary approvals.

Candidates should have demonstrated success in transmission line and substation construction, strong analytical and planning capabilities, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software. The position requires the ability to manage multiple high-impact projects, interpret contracts, apply OTP safety rules, and lead high-performing teams through clear communication, sound decision-making, and consistent accountability. A collaborative and adaptable leadership style, commitment to continuous improvement, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities are essential. The Senior Project Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams—including asset management, field crews, sourcing, accounting, legal, and external contractors—to guide procurement planning, construction oversight, quality assurance, outage coordination, commissioning, energization, transition to operations, and project closeout. Travel within the service territory may be required, and fostering a strong safety culture throughout all phases of work is a core responsibility.
