MUNICIPAL JUDGE
The Bristol Tennessee City Council will receive applications for appointment to the office of Municipal Judge and will likely consider the appointment at its regular meeting on June 2, 2026. This is a part time position with a proposed annual salary of $22,000.00. The Municipal Judge accrues retirement benefits in the Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System and is entitled to participate in the city's group health and dental plans. The Judge may continue to practice law and pursue other business interests to the extent permitted under the Code of Judicial Conduct. The Municipal Judge exercises the jurisdiction conferred by Tennessee statutes and the city charter. The qualifications, as set forth in Section 10-7 of the city charter, are: must be a resident of Sullivan County; at least 25 years of age; licensed attorney in Tennessee; must be in good standing with the Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility.
