The City of Scotland, South Dakota, is accepting applications for the position of Chief of Police. We are seeking a knowledgeable, experienced, and certified law enforcement professional with strong leadership skills and a commitment to public safety and community service. General Statement of Duties: Performs Duties under general supervision of the Mayor, directs over-all operation of the police department. Manages the operation of the police department, including appropriate record keeping activities. Enforces city ordinances and state laws. Conducts investigations, including the gathering and/or securing of evidence. Attends court hearings. Patrols the community to maintain public order and to protect lives and property, including checking doors of businesses at night to assure they are locked. Escorts prisoners.
