THE POSITION: Under general supervision, performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks related to the maintenance, operation, inspection, troubleshooting and repair of the City’s wastewater collection systems. This position is responsible for operating equipment, including hydro vactor trucks; videoing wastewater mains and laterals; repairing/installing manholes and monitoring toxic gasses in manholes and vaults; and performing lift station maintenance. Additionally, the incumbent clears blockages in wastewater collection systems; ensures proper decontamination and containment during and after wastewater upsets, and inspects assigned areas and corrects or reports safety hazards; and performs snow removal and traffic control duties as needed.
