JOB DESCRIPTION: Director of Finance and Accounting                                                                   POSITION SUMMARY Responsible for firm financial planning and analysis activities.  Responsible for the preparation of SEC financial reporting and the application of technical accounting.  Responsible for analyzing non-recurring business transactions and determining the appropriate accounting treatment.                                                     POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Financial Planning & Analysis Implements and oversees a scalable and versatile forecasting and budgeting system that will allow effective budget vs. actual analysis, scenario modeling, monthly forecasting and re-budgeting. Develops and presents forecasting and financial/operational KPI’s and dashboards to executive leadership team. Analyzes and evaluates business processes and recommends actions to streamline processes, improve operational efficiencies, and identify opportunities for reducing operational costs. Builds and maintains relationships by collaborating across business units and departments to foster trust, commitment, accountability and results. Compile ad-hoc reporting requests for Executive Leadership Team and Board upon request. Assist in the preparation of financial reporting and reconciliation of corporate investments Prepare quarterly consolidation workpapers ensure the consolidated funds are appropriately reflected in the Company’s Form 10K/Q. Compilation of financial data to be disclosed in Form 10K/Q, which includes financial statements, footnote disclosures and MD&A data. Oversee and prepare the Form 10K/Q for compliance with XBRL reporting requirements. Research new accounting pronouncements to ensure all financial statement disclosures are appropriately reflected in Form 10K/Q. Critically and thoroughly analyze non-recurring transactions by properly identifying the accounting implications of various explicit terms and implied nuances, applying appropriate accounting rules, exercising judgement in subjective areas and documenting reasonable and acceptable conclusions.   Manage and facilitate various audit engagements Maintain relationships with external and internal auditors Facilitate the quarterly review and year-end audit process with the auditors developing engagement timelines and ensuring all necessary audit requests are being provided in a timely manner and deadlines are met. Address and discuss matters with the external audit firm as necessary. Coordinate review of financial statements with auditors and Audit Committee and incorporate comments as necessary and address any questions timely. Ensure SOX controls are being implemented appropriately and updated as necessary Maintain and manage the successful implementation of financial process controls to help prevent and detect activities that may cause the misstatement of financial information or financial position. Continually review control procedures and identify possible ways to improve the internal control processes. Facilitate testing by the control assessment firm to obtain management’s assessment of the operating effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting ensuring all requests are being provided in a timely manner ensuring deadlines are met.
