Job Description Registered Nurse Labor & Delivery L&D Prestigious facility in Yuma, AZ is seeking an experienced Labor and Delivery (L&D) nurse available for a 13-week assignment. Compensation: $1,550 to $1,675/ week $43.06 to $46.53/ hour Location : Yuma, AZ Specialty: Labor and Delivery (L&D) Shift Details: 07:00 PM to 07:00 AM; 3 days / week Responsibilities: Monitors contractions and helps patient with breathing techniques. Performs basic IV and central line skills. Knowledge of hemodynamics. Administers pain medication as ordered; administers other meds to address specific medical conditions, such as hypertension and diabetes Takes and records patients vital signs, ascertains if problematic Reads fetal monitor & ascertains if there is a problem with babys heart rate Checks patients cervix periodically to monitor progression/lack of dilation Ensures patients bed is kept dry & clean; cleans up bodily fluids expelled before & after the birthing process Contacts anesthesia when/if patient is ready for epidural; contacts delivering physician at appropriate time, ascertains proper time Cares for patients on Pitocin, MgSO4 & continuous lumbar epidural Ensures patient is in proper position for delivery & all monitoring equipment is functioning properly Encourages patient to push at proper time(s) Immediate care of newborn (clean, weigh, etc.) Gives Apgar scores Keeps any family informed of progression of birth Performs other position-related duties as assigned Requirements: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing American Heart Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Advanced Fetal Monitoring/ NRP AZ licensed registered nurse and Min 2 yrs L&D Experience.
