About the Organization: Business Impact NW (BIN) helps small businesses grow, so local communities thrive. An integral part of BIN’s mission is to meet the unique business education, training, and financing needs of non-bankable business owners. Veteran’s Business Outreach Center (VBOC) is a program of BIN, and is part of a network of approximately 22 centers nationwide, and covers the territory of Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. VBOC is designed to provide entrepreneurial development services such as business training, counseling and mentoring, and referrals for eligible transitioning service members and veterans, and military community members owning or considering starting a small business. Job Description: Small business coaches and trainers serve as advisors, teachers, and network connectors for all aspects of starting and growing a business. Business counselors offer confidential one-on-one counseling in the area of start-up, business plan development, analysis and preparation of actual and projected financial statements, marketing to increase sales, and more. Assistance may range from general counseling to the identification, analysis, and resolution of specific business problems. This position will also be responsible for providing Boots to Business and Reboot training in Idaho and the corresponding reporting. In 2018 currently, there are over 6 Boots to Business training scheduled at the Mountain Home AFB. In addition to the set classes, this position will help coordinate other off-base training throughout the year in partnership with the SBA district office. The Boots to Business Trainers may be responsible for coordinating and working with military installation personnel, SBA district offices, and partner organization to ensure a smoothly delivered 2-day entrepreneurship course. Duties include but are not limited to: • Assisting clients with business plan design, including creating financial projections, budgeting, general accounting, break-even analysis, preparing loan packages, and preparing financial statements, market research, promotion, advertising and sales, sales forecasting, and market feasibility studies. • Providing training services based on set curriculum via webinar or in person throughout the community as needed. • Coordinating on-base activities required for delivery of the 2-day Boots to Business course. • Creating and maintaining a strong working relationship with resource partners, base installation personnel, business community partners, and other veteran service organizations. • Maintaining accurate records. Providing timely data reporting and documentation. • Staying relevant in business expertise Minimum Qualifications: • BA in Business, Accounting, Entrepreneurship, or related field • A minimum of 2 years experience in small business ownership either owning or working for a small business, banking, economic development, or community development preferred. • Strong desire to help clients succeed and thrive. • Experience working with a diverse population including women, veterans, people of color, immigrants and refugees, or disadvantaged business owners • Strong listening skills • Efficient oral and written communication skills • Dynamic trainer and presenter • Experience includes financial analysis, marketing, and business plan development • Experience networking and creating community relationships • Ability to complete tasks on time and with a high degree of accuracy • Self-starter, self-directed, and resourceful, able to work independently and remotely with minimal supervision and able to handle a high level of responsibility • Passion for helping clients succeed • Tech savvy with experience using computer applications, including Microsoft Office package, primarily Excel, QuickBooks and social media Helpful but not required Qualifications: • Strong connections to the military community or is a veteran • Experience using customer management systems (CRM) • Direct experience working with or training small businesses in the area of technical assistance • Bilingual second language preferred Working Conditions: This is a part-time Position based in Boise, Idaho and some travel throughout Idaho is anticipated. This position will work with local partners and the business community for office share and meeting spaces as needed. This remote position will have the flexibility to create their work environment. Some weekends and evenings will be required for meetings and events. The position is provided a laptop and other training tools. Salary Scale: This position is part-time, salary based on a 20-hour workweek. The salary range is $18,000-20,000 annually, DOE. This position will include paid vacation and sick time but will not include medical & dental insurance or other benefits at this time. This position is paid in part by the Small Business Administration and will require approval from granting authorities before hire and a basic background check.
