Job Description The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for IT support and project related initiatives specifically related to networking and security technologies in LAN / WAN /Wireless environments. The Senior Network Engineer is an architect / implementer / Subject Matter Expert in network and security solutions and works with other engineers and product focused personnel to provide the best possible design for the client. This position requires solid networking and security skills particularly with Cisco products and solutions. Emphasis is placed on the ability to thoroughly understand client needs in a comprehensive fashion and to make sound recommendations. The Senior Network Engineer works in a support capacity and provides problem determination on network events and other IT infrastructure related issues. The Senior Network Engineer position is both internal and external to the organization – internal acting to protect corporate security and external as a consultant, performing billable network and network security services to M.A. Polce clients. The Senior Network Engineer strives for continuous improvements not only internally, but externally as well. This position provides technical leadership and support to a team of other Engineers within the Professional Services -Solutions Network Team and ensures that team resources are assigned to engagements that match their capabilities. Essential Functions: • Consults with clients to effectively understand technical requirements and translate those requirements into a solution designs. • Works in a team environment with account managers, architects and product specialists to effectively develop solutions designs, statements of work, cost estimates and detailed project plans • Assists product specialists with identification of appropriate equipment to ensure capabilities and functionality requirements are adequately met • Performs installation, provisioning, and maintenance of network equipment (Firewalls, Routers, Switches, Access Points, etc.) • Performs network assessments, vulnerability assessments, secure network design, IDS, IPS, Firewalls and related technologies • Provides support for basic and advanced network administration as needed • Develop Subject Matter Expertise in Network Systems (Firewalls, Routers, Switches, Wireless APs, Cisco UCS, etc.) and Network Security • Obtain and sustain necessary certifications for M.A. Polce to maintain partnership status with vendors. • Assists in developing and maintaining corporate Policies and Procedures • Consults with MA Polce clients on network security best practices and solutions – assisting in designing and developing SOWs and work plans • Identify and troubleshoot network issues (Firewalls, VPNs, Routing, Switching, etc.) in LAN, WAN and wireless environments • Utilize available tools to perform wireless assessments • Assists in the monitoring of network resources and respond to incidents when necessary • Assists with maintaining compliance documentation and participates in compliance audits • Assists with Patch Management programs for compliance • Implementation of wireless customer networks and utilizing tools for wireless assessments • Consistently collaborates with other Engineers to solve complex procedural, operational, and technical problems, provides support to other Engineers as needed • Works with Project Managers on scheduling, project timelines and provides timely project status reports • Prepares appropriate documentation both during the project and at project closure • Proficient with Office applications such as Visio, Excel and Word to effectively provide documentation for SOWs and project deliverables • Performs scheduled installation of solutions and effectively works with clients to ensure that the solutions meet objectives and ensures that the customer receives adequate knowledge transfer • Ensures projects have the appropriate “transition to steady state support” for seamless handoff from the “project” to the operations teams (Client or MAPCI) and ensure sufficient documentation and skills transfer to the operations teams • Track and document all required licenses, network deliverables and update corporate inventory management system with required information • Routinely checks both service and pre-sales boards to ensure tickets assigned to Network Solutions Team to ensure accuracy, follow-through and completion • Executes project activities and builds working relationships with clients • Assist in developing network security programs • Provides technical direction and training to other team members • Mentors other team member for their professional and technical development • Works off-shift, nights, holidays and weekends as needed to support problem resolution or infrastructure upgrades. • Maintain valid driver’s license to work at customer sites as needed • Other duties as assigned Qualifications: • BS in Computer Science, Cyber Security or other Information Technology discipline • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in networking, security and telecommunications • Significant experience with Cisco products and solutions • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification or equivalent level of knowledge required. • Proven history troubleshooting and architecting Cisco networks including routers, switches, and firewalls. • Must be able to articulate security implications of common physical or digital vulnerabilities. • Must be comfortable with disk management, performance monitoring, package management, log interpretation, and troubleshooting. • Understanding of wireless protocols and environmental impact on signal behavior. • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearances required by our clients • Hold a valid drivers’ license and be able to commute to client locations Preferences: • Experience with Linux/Unix operating systems, primarily CentOS, Debian/Ubuntu • Developing and troubleshooting shell scripts, primarily in Bash, necessary for routine task automation • Experience in languages such as Python, Perl, C++, or Powershell • Experience and certification specifically with Cisco networking and security products to include: ASA, FirePower, basic and advanced switching and routing, layer 3 switching, and chassis-based solutions such as Nexus. • Experience with Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) • Exposure to HP, Dell, Checkpoint, or Fortinet • Certified Information Systems Security Professional(CISSP), Certified Ethical Hacker(CEH), CCNP-Security or other security certifications
